In the summers of 2013 and 2014, Chicago Line Cruises convened a working group in order to explore and research some of the most pressing topics of our time. After these two summer seasons, the research team had created two papers: one on the global freshwater crisis and the other evaluating the Chicago Climate Action Plan which aims to regulate emissions and protect Chicago’s atmosphere. This group of young scholars worked long days throughout the summer, conducting research, interviewing experts, and gathering first hand evidence on the motor vessel, Marquette. Over the next few weeks, the Chicago Line Blog will be featuring short excerpts and articles taken from these two “white papers” and highlighting their importance to life in Chicago and around the world.
